Dayspring Ministries International began in 2003

Dayspring Street Life Project began as a response to the needs of the local street children .It was first started as a feeding programme run by the local Church. The numbers grew from 2 to 85 children. The project faced challenges rehabilitating the street children due to lack of finances. The project changed its approach from curative to preventative. In 2003 the project acquired a three bedroomed house with a large garden in a low density area of Kitwe, Nkana West. This became the Grace Centre Orphanage and base for Dayspring Ministries International.

The focus then moved from the street children to caring for other vulnerable children in the community, children that were about to run to the streets. The aim was to reduce the numbers of street children. The project still extends care to  street children through feeding programmes and other strategies.

Due to its successful programme at Grace Orphanage, the Project was given a 4 bedroomed property in Luangwatownship of Kitwe. With the help of church members and cooperating partners in the UK, the property was renovated and became Faith Orphanage for girls.

Besides running the two orphanages, the project extended its preventive strategies by running Grace Creation, a women skills programme, provided by charitable support from Ireland.
